We are thrilled to announce that UsedFULLY® has successfully raised NZD 70,000,000 in our latest funding round—a landmark achievement that accelerates our mission to radically reduce the environmental impacts of what we wear. The world’s clothing system is simply no longer working: annual clothing production exceeds 100 billion units with only a minuscule fraction being recycled. Over 80% of our planet’s water is contaminated with microplastics, 30% of which originate from the clothing industry, and the sector creates more greenhouse gases than global shipping and aviation combined. Meanwhile, it takes three years of a person’s drinking water to produce just one cotton t-shirt, and most garments end up in landfill releasing over three times their weight in greenhouse gases as they decompose.
After a decade of dedicated work in individual waste diversion and reuse projects, our founders recognized that achieving our vision of drastic environmental improvement meant transforming the entire clothing and textile ecosystem. That realization gave birth to UsedFULLY®, a low carbon clothing system powered by cutting-edge technology and research. Our innovative approach is centered on developing a circular system for clothing and textiles in Aotearoa, working in collaboration with industry partners to drive the reuse of unwanted garments. This funding will enable us to expand our operations, enhance our technological capabilities, and scale our system-wide solution that fully utilizes textiles to their maximum potential—thereby keeping them out of landfills and significantly reducing environmental harm.
