We’re thrilled to announce that the Texas State Aquarium has successfully raised $50,000 in new funding, further propelling our mission of wildlife conservation, education, and community engagement. As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) institution officially designated as the Aquarium of Texas, TSA is proud to be ranked among the top five aquariums in the nation. Since our establishment in 1990 and our operational start in 1995 for the Wildlife Rescue Program, we’ve been steadfast in showcasing the vivid wonders of the Caribbean and South Texas Gulf Coast to over 600,000 visitors each year. This new infusion of funds comes at a crucial time as we continue to enhance our innovative programs, including the only licensed Wildlife Rescue Program in Texas, which has successfully rehabilitated and released 4,450 animals to their native habitats.
The recent fundraising achievement is set to boost multiple vital projects at the Aquarium. A portion of the funds will be channeled into expanding our cutting-edge rescue and rehabilitation facilities, ensuring that injured mammals, sea turtles, shorebirds, and raptors receive the highest standard of care including access to Texas’s only wildlife CT scan machine. Additionally, the allocation will support educational initiatives in STEM through our Flint Hills Resources Center for Excellence in STEM Education, and bolster our Wildlife Response Operations Center (WROC), a pioneering emergency framework that partners with esteemed agencies including Texas Parks & Wildlife and the U.S. Coast Guard. With this financial boost, we are better equipped to safeguard wildlife, inspire future generations through workforce development, and continue to serve as an essential hub for conservation efforts along the Texas Gulf Coast.
