Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) is thrilled to announce the successful raising of $120,000 in our recent funding round, marking yet another milestone in our storied journey of healthcare excellence and innovation. As a premier tertiary and quaternary referral hospital within the Sydney Local Health District, RPA has long been at the forefront of pioneering lifesaving treatments and transformative care. Celebrating 140 years in September 2022, our institution has repeatedly set benchmarks, from performing Australia’s first aortic valve replacement and liver transplant to establishing the nation’s first nuclear medicine department. Today, this generous funding supports our continued commitment to research, education, and clinical excellence even as we embark on the most significant transformation in our history – a $1 billion redevelopment program that will enhance our facilities, expand our capacity, and further integrate state-of-the-art technology into patient care.
The funds raised will provide critical support for initiatives that drive innovative treatment strategies and improved patient outcomes. Every year, our dedicated team cares for approximately 100,000 individuals in our Emergency Department, assists another 20,000 arriving by ambulance, delivers 5000 babies, performs nearly 25,000 operations, and offers outpatient services to well over 560,000 patients. This funding is a testament to the trust placed in RPA by our community, patients from across NSW, and international visitors, and it reinforces our resolve to lead in clinical care and health research. As we continue our legacy of proactive change and cutting-edge service, we are excited to channel these resources into projects that promise not only to enhance our comprehensive care offerings but also to pioneer the future of health innovation.
