We are thrilled to announce that Rootical Start-up Studio has successfully raised $30 million to advance our mission of empowering social entrepreneurs in Uganda to build and own regenerative agri-food businesses. With this funding, we aim to address pressing challenges in our agricultural ecosystem, combat unemployment in Africa, and reduce economic inequality through innovative, sustainable practices. Our unique approach is centered around three pillars: promoting regenerative agriculture and agroecology, nurturing purpose-driven entrepreneurship, and pioneering steward ownership models that prioritize impact over traditional venture capital. This funding will support a cohort of 40 Ugandan social entrepreneurs through a three-step, human-centered venture building process. These entrepreneurs will explore and analyze food system challenges, test and refine their innovative solutions, and ultimately launch 5-6 co-founded startups based on steward ownership principles by the end of our pilot program. As we strive to make bio-nutrient dense food accessible to all, we are collaborating with esteemed partners such as the DOEN Foundation and Biovision who are committed to funding 70% of our pilot. Now, we are eager to expand our network and seek out impact-aligned investors who share our vision for a sustainable and equitable food future. Together, we can redefine the landscape of agriculture in Uganda and contribute to a global shift towards regenerative practices. Join us as we embark on this transformative journey and support the next generation of purpose-driven entrepreneurs!
