We are excited to announce that ReCircle has successfully raised an impressive $345 million in funding, marking a significant step towards transforming the future of waste management in India. Founded in 2016 by clean-tech visionaries Rahul Nainani and Gurashish Singh Sahni, ReCircle has tackled the question of waste with innovative solutions that prioritize sustainability and circularity. To date, the company has diverted over 169,000 metric tons of waste—equivalent to the weight of 28,166 elephants—across 270 cities by collaborating with over 45 processing partners and a network of 400 collection partners. This monumental effort has not only reduced landfill waste but has also positively impacted the lives of more than 3,100 Safai Saathis, or waste workers, demonstrating a commitment to ethical and inclusive practices.
The newly acquired funding will primarily focus on expanding our operations into new waste streams, including textiles, paper, and glass. Furthermore, it will support our ongoing innovation to digitize the waste supply chain, enabling us to create meaningful opportunities for informal waste workers while building a closed-loop system that extends the lifecycle of materials. With established partnerships with progressive brands such as Hindustan Unilever and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, we are committed to driving impactful sustainability projects, including zero waste initiatives and the promotion of plastic neutrality. With the backing of esteemed investors like Flipkart Ventures and support from organizations like the UNDP, we are ready to further empower India towards a circular economy—one piece of trash at a time. The journey doesn't end here; it's just the beginning!
