PopVax, an innovative Indian full-stack biotechnology company at the forefront of mRNA vaccine development, is thrilled to announce that it has secured $2 million in funding to advance its groundbreaking research and clinical trials. This investment is pivotal as PopVax gears up to launch its first product, a next-generation COVID-19 booster vaccine designed to enhance immunity against both current and emerging variants of the virus. Scheduled to enter first-in-human Phase I clinical trials in the U.S. early next year, this vaccine aims to reduce the risk of future COVID-19 outbreaks that could arise from sudden mutations. With a talented team of over 70 experts spanning fields such as computational design, machine learning, molecular and cell biology, and regulatory compliance, PopVax is poised for rapid growth. The newly raised capital will not only support the ongoing clinical development of the COVID-19 booster but will also facilitate the hiring of additional specialists across its various teams, further bolstering the company鈥檚 capabilities. The experimental work is conducted at the RNA Foundry, an integrated R&D and GMP-capable clinical production facility based in Hyderabad. As part of its mission over the next decade, PopVax strives to develop and distribute vaccines aimed at saving one million lives each year globally from infectious diseases that otherwise would result in tragic loss. With the support from previous partnerships with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Balvi, this new round of funding propels PopVax closer to achieving its visionary goals for public health and biosecurity.
