ORPC is excited to announce a successful funding round, raising $2.1 million to advance its mission of combating climate change through innovative marine renewable energy solutions. As a pioneering force in harnessing underwater power systems, ORPC specializes in generating clean energy from free-flowing tides and rivers. With a focus on remote islanded communities, our technology seeks to replace costly and environmentally damaging diesel power generation with sustainable, locally produced renewable energy. Notably, ORPC is the only company globally that has successfully integrated marine renewable energy (MRE) tidal projects into utility grids and established river project microgrids.
The newly acquired funds will further bolster ORPC’s operations, enhancing our already successful RivGen® Power System, which has been operational in Igiugig, Alaska, since 2019. This project not only marked a significant milestone as the longest-operating current energy converter in the Americas but has also been instrumental in reducing the community's diesel dependence by an impressive 60-90%. Our commitment to collaboration with local partners ensures that we create economic opportunities while preserving the environment—over a decade of responsible project management has shown no adverse impacts on local ecosystems.
With these additional resources, ORPC is positioned to accelerate its expansion into North America, South America, and Europe, bringing our cutting-edge technology to new regions where ocean and river energy resources can be harnessed. As we continue to partner with communities, universities, and environmental organizations, ORPC remains dedicated to driving clean energy solutions that enrich lives while safeguarding our planet.
