Oorja Solutions Secures $1.5M in Series A Funding to Revolutionize Sustainable Agriculture

Oorja Solutions is thrilled to announce the successful raising of $1.5 million in funding to further support its mission at the intersection of clean energy and sustainable agriculture. As a pioneering Farming-as-a-Service company, Oorja is revolutionizing the way that smallholder farmers in weak-grid areas of northern India access essential agricultural services. Our innovative Pay-Per-Use (PPU) model eliminates the traditional upfront technology acquisition costs that have long posed a barrier to farmers, particularly those with less than 2 acres of land and average incomes around INR 60,000 annually. This funding will be instrumental in expanding our operations and enhancing our multi-utility services, which include affordable solar-powered irrigation, milling, and cooling systems designed to optimize farm productivity, reduce energy expenditures, and mitigate significant CO2e emissions. Oorja’s commitment is to empower not just individual farmers, but entire communities, enabling them to build climate resilience against ongoing environmental challenges. By utilizing decentralized solar assets that we finance, install, operate, and maintain at or near the farm, we are actively working toward our ambitious goal of empowering one million farmers globally by 2030.
