Ocean Ledger is excited to announce a major funding milestone, having raised $900,000 to further accelerate its mission to empower coastal resilience worldwide. This capital injection comes at a pivotal moment for the company, which has spent the past eight years developing cutting-edge geospatial models that leverage multi-decadal historical geomorphic changes—from shoreline movement and underwater topography to ecosystem protection for seagrass, coral, mangroves, and tidal flats. With this new funding, Ocean Ledger will continue to enhance its globally applicable yet locally adapted models, designed to address asset-level physical and natural risks, such as flood exposure, that threaten nearshore assets.
The investment will empower Ocean Ledger to expand and refine its Dashboard Product, a comprehensive tool that provides users with unprecedented access to historical observational data, dynamic baselines for risk assessment, and future climate scenario predictions. The platform will also facilitate detailed scenario analyses for adaptation interventions, enabling communities to implement both nature-based and non-nature-based solutions, and monitor their long-term effectiveness. In addition, the funding will support the company’s robust efforts in UN SEEA natural capital quantification, ensuring a standardized approach for assessing the vulnerability and restoration potential of critical coastal ecosystems.
By securing these funds, Ocean Ledger is not only reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge research and development—a foundation built during its eight-year journey at the German Aerospace Center—but also setting the stage for transformative impacts on coastal management practices worldwide. This financial boost represents a significant step forward in the company’s vision to equip cities, regions, and nations with innovative tools to combat the increasing challenges posed by climate change and coastal risks.
