Mitti Labs has raised $9.5M in a Series A round, a bet that satellite data and AI can turn rice paddies-a major methane source-into a scalable climate asset. The funding brings together Aramco Ventures, Lightspeed India, Godrej Industries Group, Cisco, Francis Family Fund, and Volta Circle.
The deeptech startup pairs remote sensing with on-the-ground field operations to measure and verify emissions reductions from climate-smart farming practices, then packages those reductions into carbon credits. Rice cultivation’s methane output rivals that of global aviation, and Mitti Labs is targeting smallholder farmers across the global South, where the potential for both environmental and economic impact is largest. The fresh capital will help build out the infrastructure needed to bring that model to scale.
