Lund University Humanities Lab has secured $19,000,000 in funding, marking a significant investment in its advanced research technology and interdisciplinary initiatives. This substantial financial backing underscores the growing recognition of the Lab's vital role in fostering innovative research across diverse fields.
The Humanities Lab serves as an interdisciplinary department for research technology and training within the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology at Lund University. It provides critical resources including technology infrastructure, methodological expertise, and robust data management and archiving capabilities. The Lab's activities are primarily focused on human behaviour, investigating areas such as communication, culture, cognition, and learning. Its projects frequently span disciplines, collaborating extensively with the social sciences, medicine, natural sciences, engineering, and e-Science, both locally and with national and international partners. The Lab also hosts and coordinates HUMINFRA, a national research infrastructure.
The newly acquired funds are earmarked to strategically enhance the Lab's capabilities. Plans include upgrading its research technology, expanding its methodological know-how, and strengthening its data management and archiving infrastructure. This investment is expected to accelerate the Lab's interdisciplinary research projects and expand its collaborative networks, further enabling researchers to combine qualitative and quantitative methods to tackle complex scientific challenges.
