Today, we are excited to share a major milestone for the Live Like Lou Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of ALS, supporting ALS warriors and their families, and funding emerging research to find treatments or a cure. In our latest funding announcement, we recognize that while the recent campaign has not yet yielded a monetary sum – with funds raised currently marked as “None” – the real achievement lies in the community rallying behind our cause and strengthening our resolve to continue in the spirit of our namesake, Lou Gehrig. This announcement highlights our unwavering commitment to the 16,000-plus individuals living with this fatal disease each day across North America, and it underscores the importance of unity and support in our journey ahead.
Our work remains robust, featuring grants to promising research programs, Iron Horse Scholarships for dependents of ALS warriors, one-time or short-term home support projects, as well as initiatives that enrich the lives of children in ALS families. We are extremely proud of our longstanding partnership with Lou Gehrig's fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, whose philanthropy has enabled us to serve more than 200 families annually through hands-on volunteer work and nurturing programs like the Hope Loves Company camps.
Though our current funding round has not yet produced new financial contributions, the determination and passion of our supporters are already paving the way for future breakthroughs. The current phase of our journey is not about immediate dollar values but about building a strong network of advocates and stakeholders who believe that, together, we can leave ALS in a much better state than we found it. We look forward to actualizing new opportunities as more partners join our mission to transform the lives of those touched by ALS.
