We are thrilled to announce that the Vernon Township Fire Department (VTFD) has successfully raised $10,000 in our latest funding campaign—a vital boost that will further empower us to serve the northwest corner of Hancock County, Indiana. Covering approximately 31 square miles that include Fortville, McCordsville, and unincorporated Vernon Township, our department is dedicated to delivering advanced life support and emergency response services 24/7. With our state-of-the-art units stationed at VTFD Station 431 in Fortville—including Engine 431, Medic 431, Tanker 431, Grass 431, Tactical Support Unit 438, and Reserve Engine 439—and at Station 432 in McCordsville, which houses Engine 432, Medic 432, and Reserve Medic 438, the raised funds will assist in preserving and enhancing our comprehensive suite of resources.
The funding will be strategically allocated to upgrade critical equipment and support enhancements in training that further reinforce our readiness in responding to emergencies ranging from automobile crashes and structure fires to hazardous materials incidents and technical rescues. Beyond direct emergency response, this significant contribution will also bolster our commitment to public safety education and prevention initiatives. Through community events, building inspections, plan reviews, school and business visits, and tailored outreach campaigns, we continue to engage and educate the communities we serve.
