ICAR-CIRCOT R-ABI, a prominent agribusiness incubation centre, has secured $4 in new funding. This investment marks a significant step for the organization dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the agricultural and allied sectors.
Established in 2006 at ICAR-CIRCOT, the centre initially focused on nurturing cotton stakeholders and supporting their business endeavors. Its admirable initiatives led to its recognition by the RKVY Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, which designated CIRCOT as an Agri-Business Incubator under the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme in 2019. Since then, CIRCOT R-ABI has expanded its reach to a broader spectrum of agriculture and allied sectors, becoming one of the most prominent among 29 RKVY-RAFTAAR-Agribusiness Incubators. It has successfully admitted sixteen entrepreneurs, graduated seven incubatees, and facilitated the commercialization of nine innovative products.
The platform provides graduates, rural youth, and farmers with the resources to materialize and commercialize their innovative ideas. This includes access to experienced expertise from the institute and its networking partners, comprehensive nurturing, mentoring, and provision for grant-in-aid. Additionally, ICAR-CIRCOT R-ABI offers well-equipped laboratories with hi-tech analytical instruments, state-of-the-art incubation facilities, office space, and digital infrastructure to support agri-innovators and startups.
The newly raised capital of $4 will be strategically deployed to further enhance ICAR-CIRCOT R-ABI's capabilities and expand its support for emerging agri-businesses. While specific allocation details were not disclosed, the funds are expected to fuel growth initiatives, strengthen its incubation programs, and potentially upgrade its analytical and digital infrastructure.
