Hagley Museum and Library Secures $15,000 Funding Boost to Support Innovation and History Preservation Efforts

Hagley Museum and Library is thrilled to announce the successful raise of $15,000 in funding, a critical step toward expanding its educational programs and enhancing visitor experiences. Situated on the historic site of the original DuPont black powder works in Delaware, Hagley spans 235 acres of scenic beauty, rich with the legacy of American industry and innovation. This funding will allow Hagley to deepen its commitment to preserving and presenting its unique historical narrative through enhanced exhibitions, educational outreach, and community engagement initiatives. As the only Smithsonian Affiliate museum in Delaware, and a well-established National Historic Landmark, Hagley has long been a vibrant resource for understanding the intricacies of American enterprise, water power, and industrial history. Our visitors explore interactive exhibitions and engage with our historic powder yards, where they witness the past come alive through black powder demonstrations and glimpses into the lives of those who worked here. With the new funding, we aim to create additional programs tailored specifically for schools and families, thereby inspiring the next generation to appreciate the stories embedded in Hagley’s grounds. Additionally, we plan to preserve our site further and upgrade our library resources, which hold the invaluable archives of the du Pont family and over 1,000 other businesses. This support resonates not just within the walls of our museum but extends its impact into the greater community, fostering a deeper understanding of the American dream’s evolution.
