Today, we are excited to share an update on the ongoing transformative work of the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC). As the official statewide nonprofit organization supporting California’s community colleges—the largest system of higher education in the nation—FoundationCCC has consistently dedicated its efforts to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all Californians. While this recent announcement notes that no new funding has been raised, the significance of FoundationCCC’s work remains undiminished. In a landscape where partnerships with philanthropy, public agencies, corporations, and individual donors are constantly evolving, the organization continues to leverage its robust annual revenues of over $167 million and the tireless efforts of its 550 full-time employees to drive change.
Since its founding in 1998, FoundationCCC has operated more than 70 programs and services designed to enhance educational access, affordability, and success. These initiatives span six critical Areas of Impact, including Student Success, Workforce Development, Equity, Community Impact, Climate Action, and System Support. This integrated approach not only addresses the immediate academic needs of today’s students but also lays the groundwork for long-term economic and social mobility. The purpose of this ongoing mission is clear—to help students acquire work-based learning experiences, to ameliorate basic needs challenges, and to combat the localized effects of climate change, ensuring a resilient future for communities statewide.
Even in the absence of additional raised funds, the strength of FoundationCCC’s network and its strategic partnerships underpin its ability to continue making a profound impact on the lives of students and the communities they serve.
