Energy Transition Zone Ltd is thrilled to announce a pivotal funding milestone – raising £53,000,000 to accelerate its mission of transforming the North East of Scotland into a globally recognised, integrated energy cluster. With a strategic focus on catalysing net-zero initiatives, this robust financial backing positions the company to drive the deployment of innovative energy transition activities leveraging decades of expertise derived from a 50-year legacy in the world-class oil and gas sector. At its core, ETZ Ltd is a private sector-led not-for-profit organisation established with a visionary purpose: to steer the region towards becoming a net exporter of cutting-edge energy transition technologies and skills. The raised funds will play an instrumental role in the development of the Energy Transition Zone – a 70-hectare purpose-built net zero green space ideally situated along the coastline and adjacent to the £420m deepwater harbour development at Aberdeen South Harbour. This dynamic area is set to become a catalyst for innovation and high-value manufacturing, serving as a centre of excellence encompassing offshore floating wind, hydrogen production, renewable energy innovations, and carbon capture and storage initiatives. By fusing extensive local expertise with groundbreaking new infrastructure, ETZ Ltd is committed to transforming the region into a world-leading hub for energy transition. This investment not only reassures stakeholders of the company’s potential to spearhead a significant industrial evolution, but also underscores the region’s determination to accelerate the journey towards a sustainable energy future, marking a new chapter of economic growth and environmental leadership in the global energy landscape.
