We are thrilled to announce that EngiQueers Canada, also known as EQ Canada, has successfully raised $100,000 in a recent funding round. This remarkable achievement is set to empower our mission of promoting and advocating for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ students—and their allies—in engineering schools throughout Canada. With this investment, our organization is poised to expand its role as the governing body for LGBTQ+ Student Engineering Societies across the nation. The funds will be instrumental in helping us provide a robust platform for communication and collaboration among active clubs, allowing for the sharing of best practices, challenges, and innovative solutions to common organizational or political obstacles.
The infusion of capital will support our initiatives to enhance the sustainability and continuity of these organizations, ensuring that they have the resources necessary to thrive. Additionally, it will facilitate the coordination of impactful in-person meetups between local and national chapters, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. We are also committed to encouraging the creation of new chapters within engineering schools, thus broadening our reach and influence. Moreover, the funding will be used to build and maintain networks by sharing contact information of local LGBTQ+ engineering professionals (with their consent) to organize school visits, panel discussions, and a variety of professional events that can inspire and mentor the next generation of engineers.
This funding is not just an investment in our organization—it is an investment in the future of inclusive engineering education across Canada. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supporters, and we are excited to embark on this next chapter of growth and community-building.
