Empowering Local Innovation: STMA Awards $100K Grant to Boost Entrepreneurial Growth in Sekondi-Takoradi

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) is celebrating a remarkable milestone as it recently raised 100,000 through a strategic funding drive that underscores the continuous growth and development of our region. Established originally in 1903 as the Sekondi Town Council and evolving through various stages—most notably in 1962 when it was elevated to city status, and later rebranded in 2008—the STMA has consistently been at the forefront of progress in the Western Region. This latest infusion of funds is set to bolster ongoing initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure, enhancing public services, and nurturing economic development across the metropolitan area. The STMA, which governs a vibrant Twin-City covering 189 km², is strategically positioned with Sekondi as the administrative capital and is bordered by Mpohor District to the north, Shama District to the east, and Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal to the west, with the Gulf of Guinea to the south. With a population of 245,382 residents, the Assembly’s diverse and dynamic community is a testament to our rich heritage and forward-looking vision. The funds will play a crucial role in supporting key projects, including upgrading roads, reinforcing civic amenities, and fostering environments conducive to investment and community empowerment. As a historic body composed of a General Assembly with fifty-seven members, including elected representatives alongside appointed officials and Members of Parliament, the STMA remains committed to transparency and efficient governance. This financial achievement not only reinforces our dedication to sustainable urban development but also sets a strong foundation for future collaborative projects that will drive regional prosperity and benefit all citizens.
