We are thrilled to announce that the Chicano Federation of San Diego County has successfully raised $15,000 in new funding, a significant milestone that underscores the continued support for our mission of empowering our diverse community. Established in 1969, our Federation has long been at the forefront of social change in San Diego County by providing comprehensive, neighborhood-based services to a large and varied population. These funds will help further our work in offering life-changing programs and services to those in need throughout our region.
Over the decades, our organization has evolved from a passionate group of civil rights advocates into a robust institution delivering essential services. Critical programs—including subsidized infant and toddler care, early childhood education at our preschool in Barrio Logan, and daily subsidized meals serving over 5,000 children—highlight the breadth and impact of our work. Additionally, our commitment to affordable housing has resulted in 300 units across nine apartment buildings in key neighborhoods like Barrio Logan, City Heights, and South Park. The recent infusion of $15,000 will help us expand these initiatives, ensuring that low-income children and families continue to have access to vital resources that promote stability and opportunity.
This funding not only supports the practical expansion of our services but also reaffirms our commitment to the legacy of advocacy and community service that has defined the Chicano Federation since its inception.
