Carmat, the French MedTech company, has secured $1,300,000 in new funding from investors. This capital injection is intended to support the company’s ongoing operations and strategic objectives as it continues to develop and commercialize its innovative medical device.
The company is known for designing, manufacturing, and marketing the Aeson® artificial heart. Aeson® is presented as a therapeutic solution for individuals suffering from end-stage biventricular heart failure, aiming to serve as the first alternative to a human heart transplant amidst a significant shortage of available donor grafts. Described as the world’s first physiological artificial heart, it features high hemocompatibility, pulsatile function, and self-regulation. The device offers patients improved quality of life and mobility through its ergonomic, portable external power supply. Aeson® is commercially available as a bridge to transplant in the European Union and other regions recognizing CE marking, and is currently undergoing an Early Feasibility Study (EFS) in the United States. Founded in 2008, Carmat is based in the Paris region and employs over 200 specialized professionals.
The newly raised funds will enable Carmat to advance its growth initiatives. This includes supporting the continued development, manufacturing, and potential expansion of Aeson®'s market reach. The funding round is significant for Carmat as it provides essential capital to sustain its mission of addressing a critical unmet medical need.
This investment underscores the continued interest in medical innovations that offer solutions for life-threatening conditions. Carmat aims to leverage this funding to further its progress in making the Aeson® artificial heart a widely accessible and viable option for thousands of patients awaiting a heart transplant globally.
