HutanBio is thrilled to announce that we have successfully raised $3,500,000 in funding to advance our ground-breaking mission of decarbonizing the maritime shipping industry. Faced with the immense challenge of transforming an industry that consumes 200 million tonnes of diesel fuel annually—operating for over 330 days a year on vast ocean routes—we are committed to driving a critical transition to low-carbon fuels. As consumer demand for climate-friendly shipping solutions intensifies, we recognize the crucial role our project plays in facilitating global trade while respecting environmental sustainability. Shipping and long-haul transport, while representing only about 3% of transportation carbon emissions, form the backbone of essential supply chains; halting shipping risks depriving communities of vital resources.
Our decade-long journey of scientific innovation has led us to the exciting creation of HBx, an entirely new genus of marine microorganisms that holds significant promise for producing low-cost, carbon-negative biofuels. After painstaking research and experimentation over seven years in a floating lab—an endeavor marked by both challenges and breakthroughs—we are now prepared to scale this technology through our marine microalgal production platform. This funding will propel us to the next level, enabling HutanBio to 'green' the desert and empower shipping companies to meet their low-carbon energy needs effectively. Armed with our pioneering discoveries, we are ready to redefine the standards of sustainability in the shipping industry while ensuring that essential commodities continue to flow seamlessly to those in need.
