Arrowhead EMS Association Secures $5 Million Funding Boost to Support Life-Saving Services in Northeast Minnesota and Douglas County

We are thrilled to announce that the Arrowhead EMS Association (AEMSA) has successfully raised $5,000,000 to enhance emergency medical services across Northeast Minnesota and Douglas County, Wisconsin. Founded in 1985, AEMSA has served as the prototype for regional EMS planning and operations, addressing critical healthcare needs for a diverse population of over 326,000 residents spread across a vast 25% of Minnesota's territory. As a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission revolves around decreasing morbidity and mortality from emergency incidents by implementing innovative EMS strategies that pave the way for improved emergency response systems. This funding will play a pivotal role in bolstering our leadership in emergency planning, ensuring that we can effectively support over 200 agencies, including ambulance services, fire and rescue, and hospital emergency departments, to deliver high-quality care to underserved areas. With approximately 80% of our services provided by dedicated volunteers, this financial boost will allow us to enhance training, facilitate quality assurance, and improve communication systems, particularly in remote regions where ambulance contacts can exceed 50 miles. Our comprehensive services—ranging from disaster preparedness to legislative advocacy—will be greatly enhanced, leading to a more robust, efficient, and responsive EMS framework across the region.
