Zomato, India’s most trusted food delivery service, is thrilled to announce that it has successfully raised $600 million in its latest funding round. Founded in 2010, Zomato has grown into a massive hyperlocal delivery network, employing over 5,000 team members and partnering with 3.5 lakh delivery personnel. The latest funding will bolster the company's ongoing mission of “better food for more people” while enhancing its services and support for its expansive network of restaurant partners and delivery staff. Zomato's commitment to upward social and economic movement is embodied in initiatives like ‘Feeding India.’ This prominent non-profit aims to eradicate hunger across the country by providing over 150,000 nutritious meals daily to those in need. Notably, during the pandemic, Feeding India played a vital role by orchestrating one of the largest food distribution drives globally, delivering an astounding 78 million meals and facilitating the distribution of oxygen concentrators to help hospitals during the COVID-19 crisis. The new funding will help Zomato focus on its ambitious goals of innovating sustainable delivery methods, making last-mile deliveries carbon neutral, and eliminating plastic packaging. Additionally, Zomato is committed to creating meaningful opportunities within the gig economy while meeting the rising demand for affordable, hygienic, and high-quality food across India. This funding not only strengthens Zomato’s position as a leader in the food delivery industry but also underlines its dedication to making a positive impact within the communities it serves.
