Virmedex, a women-led company specializing in gamified healthcare training solutions, has secured $1.2 million in investment capital. This funding round marks a significant milestone for the company, which aims to empower healthcare providers with accessible, engaging, and effective training tools.
The company's core offering includes its flagship product, virCPB, an online cardiopulmonary bypass training program. This program covers all phases of cardiopulmonary bypass, from initiation to weaning, and incorporates both regular and crisis scenarios. Users engage with simulated cardiac interventions under various patient conditions, progressing through increasing levels of simulation tasks and quizzes to earn points and unlock new challenges. Virmedex also offers custom-made games, allowing institutions to develop tailored training solutions through its virtual Atelier.
With over two decades of experience in serious games and gamification for health and education, Virmedex originated as a research group at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The company has since collaborated with hospitals, research centers, institutions, and companies to design gamification strategies and video games for applications such as rehabilitation, screening, and professional training. The newly raised capital is intended to support Virmedex's growth initiatives, including the enhancement of its existing platforms and the development of new training modules.
This investment will enable Virmedex to expand its market reach and continue its mission of leveraging the power of gaming to improve healthcare education and outcomes. The company remains dedicated to innovation and staying at the forefront of gamified medical training, aiming to empower a broader range of healthcare professionals globally.
