With this funding, our network—dedicated to advancing the careers of journalists of color who have long been underrepresented—will bolster its efforts to transform how the stories of today’s environmental crises are told. The Uproot Project has always believed that the old narrative doesn’t work anymore, and this infusion of support reinforces our commitment to cultivating fresh perspectives and critical insights in journalism. Currently supported by Grist—a nonprofit, independent media organization known for its focus on climate solutions and equitable futures—we are proud to stand on the shoulders of our partner as we work toward our goal of eventually operating independently.
