Switstack, a company specializing in software-defined EMV platforms for in-store payments, has raised $2.1 million in a recent funding round. The capital secured from investors will support the company's strategic objectives as it continues to address complex challenges within the payment infrastructure sector.
The company provides a unified platform designed to simplify the building, testing, and deployment of EMV-compliant in-store payment systems. Switstack's solutions cater to both payment application teams and terminal/kernel development teams, leveraging deep industry expertise to reduce certification time, increase flexibility, and eliminate vendor lock-in. This approach is particularly relevant for platforms integrating in-store payments, expanding to Android Tap-to-Pay, or modernizing existing terminal infrastructure.
Switstack's platform includes Switcloud, a managed EMV L2 infrastructure layer for payment application teams, and Moka, a hardware-agnostic, source-available EMV L2 stack for terminal developers. Additionally, Swittest offers an automated EMV L2 testing service designed to streamline validation and reduce compliance costs. The newly secured funds will be directed towards growth initiatives, including enhancing these platform capabilities and scaling operations to meet increasing demand.
This investment positions Switstack to further its mission of enabling teams to build modern payment experiences without requiring extensive EMV expertise, while maintaining full control over user experience and architecture. The company anticipates continued expansion as it supports the evolution of secure and flexible in-store payment solutions.
