Smoky Hills PBS Secures Major Funding to Expand Educational Programming Across Kansas

Smoky Hills Public Television (PBS) proudly announces a significant milestone in its journey to enhance educational and cultural content for the communities of central and western Kansas. Incorporated in March of 1978 and on-air since 1982, Smoky Hills PBS serves an expansive audience across 71 counties, showcasing the diverse artistry, histories, and narratives of the region. With a commitment to celebrating Kansas’s unique stories, the station produces between 50 to 60 hours of localized programming each year, earning accolades such as the "Television Station of the Year" award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. This week, Smoky Hills PBS has successfully raised $100,000 from generous donations aimed at bolstering its educational outreach initiatives. This funding will directly support the production of new content tailored to engage local audiences, particularly through its acclaimed children’s programming. Currently, Smoky Hills PBS broadcasts nine hours of non-violent educational content daily, ensuring that children across the region have access to safe and enriching programming.
