The company specializes in developing novel inflammasome inhibitors, small molecules designed to suppress a broad spectrum of inflammatory cytokines. Its unique mechanism of action involves GPCR-regulated P2X7 inhibition, which controls both the priming and activation phases of inflammasome, a distinction from conventional approaches that typically target only the activation phase.
This innovative modality is applied to address complex immune-mediated inflammatory disorders. Shaperon is currently advancing multiple clinical programs, including treatments for atopic dermatitis, cytokine release syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and NASH. Beyond its inflammasome R&D, Shaperon also develops anti-viral and anti-cancer nanobody therapeutics, leveraging proprietary immunized nanobody libraries for high-throughput screening and in vitro/in vivo systems to develop multi-valent, multi-specific nanobodies.
The newly raised capital will be instrumental in accelerating Shaperon's research and development efforts.
