Ruzizi III Energy Limited (REL) is excited to announce a successful funding round, securing an impressive $450 million to propel the Ruzizi III regional hydroelectric power project forward. Registered in Rwanda, REL is a special purpose vehicle dedicated to the development, construction, and operation of this transformative project鈥攁 major milestone for the infrastructure landscape of Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With the backing of the Republic of Burundi, the DRC, and Rwanda as Contracting States, REL's collaborative public-private partnership is set to deliver a remarkable 206 MW of clean energy through a run-of-river hydropower solution strategically located on the Ruzizi River. This river serves as the natural border between DRC and Rwanda, flowing between the stunning landscapes of Lake Kivu and Lake Tanganyika. The funding raised will be instrumental in advancing the project through its crucial construction phase, ensuring the timely completion of what promises to be one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region. With shareholders like Industrial Promotion Services and SN Power AS (part of Scatec ASA), REL aims to not only provide sustainable energy but also foster economic growth and energy security in these three nations. This innovative project underscores the potential for regional cooperation in renewable energy development, aligning with global sustainability goals while meeting the growing energy demands of the surrounding communities. We are thrilled to take this significant step forward and remain committed to delivering renewable power that will benefit the entire region for years to come.
