ORA is thrilled to announce a successful fundraising milestone with the recent contribution of £15,000—an achievement that not only strengthens our financial foundation but also propels our vision to new heights. As a UK registered charity, ORA is steadfast in its mission "to advance, improve, develop and maintain the public education in, and appreciation of, the Arts," with a passionate focus on choral music. This significant investment will fuel our ongoing efforts to commission innovative works, celebrate distinguished composers, and create enduring musical legacies that resonate with audiences for generations.
Since our inception, ORA has been at the forefront of fostering creative excellence in the choral world by commissioning over 32 living composers and recording more than six albums that showcase a rich repertoire of contemporary expressions. Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance Period—the inaugural 'Golden Age' of choral music—we approach today's world-class artists and composers with the aim of igniting a second 'Golden Age.' This fresh wave of musical innovation emphasizes reflective dialogue between the masterpieces of the past and the vibrant, innovative compositions of the present.
The funds raised will be strategically invested in furthering these commissions, enabling us to extend our ambitious initiative of 100 new commissions by 100 contemporary composers within the next decade. By supporting ORA, donors are not only championing contemporary choral art but also ensuring that a diverse range of voices and creative visions continue to flourish in an ever-changing cultural landscape. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every supporter whose contribution has made this milestone possible and look forward to building a legacy of transformative musical experiences that celebrate the timeless beauty of choral artistry.
