We are thrilled to announce that Numeric has successfully raised R40,000,000 to further our mission of empowering young South Africans to excel in mathematics. As a dedicated team of friendly and passionate individuals, Numeric has always worked relentlessly to address a critical issue: only 2% of children who began school in 2019 finished matric with a robust understanding of mathematics, limiting their access to tertiary studies in maths and science. With this new infusion of capital, we are uniquely positioned to expand our approach, which focuses on Grade 7 learners through our innovative after-school maths classes and simultaneously supports pre-service teachers with a year-long teaching internship. Our current operations span 45 after-school programs in Cape Town and Johannesburg, engaging 98 active coaches and over 2400 participating learners in a comprehensive one-year program that covers essential arithmetic and pre-algebra skills. Recognizing that foundational gaps are common among South African children, our curriculum is intentionally designed to be non-aligned with traditional methods; instead, we build mathematical understanding intensively and rapidly from the ground up. This funding will not only enable us to scale our programs and develop more engaging and impactful teaching strategies but also further our commitment to transforming the educational landscape. By investing in the future of mathematics education and nurturing the next generation of educators, Numeric is taking a bold step towards the long-term goal of achieving widespread academic excellence in mathematics across South Africa. We are immensely proud and excited to embark on this new phase of growth, confident that together we can create a brighter, more mathematically proficient future for countless young learners.
