We are thrilled to announce that the Mid-Western Regional Council has successfully raised $11,250,000 in new funding, marking a pivotal moment for this vibrant and dynamic community. Located just 3.5 hours from Sydney, the Mid-Western Region perfectly blends the charm of the countryside with a city’s array of activities, making it an attractive destination for residents and investors alike. This tremendous investment will directly fuel the enhancement of essential services, infrastructure, and public facilities across our expansive 9,000-square-kilometre area. Historic towns like Gulgong, Kandos, Mudgee, and Rylstone, along with our welcoming rural villages, will experience targeted improvements designed to meet the needs of our growing population, which now exceeds 25,000 passionate individuals.
As we look to the future, our commitment remains steadfast in preserving the unique qualities of our region—from the breathtaking landscapes that stretch from Wollemi National Park in the east to Lake Burrendong in the west, and from the natural wonders of Goulburn National Park in the north to the scenic Macquarie and Turon Rivers in the south—to fostering a resilient economic environment. Our team of nearly 400 dedicated employees is at the heart of these initiatives, working tirelessly to upgrade local facilities and support community-driven projects that continue to make this area an exceptional place to live. This significant funding achievement not only reinforces our commitment to providing a high quality of life for current residents but also paves the way for sustainable growth while welcoming new “tree change” residents who infuse the region with fresh ideas and metropolitan flair.
