Malt, a platform designed to connect businesses with freelance professionals, has announced it has secured $97.9 million in new funding from investors. The company's core mission is to provide individuals with the freedom to choose what work they do and who they do it with, aiming to redefine the world of work and empower professionals to shape their careers according to their preferences.
Founded in 2013 by Vincent Huguet and Hugo Lassiège, Malt has grown significantly, now serving over 850,000 freelancers and 90,000 clients, establishing itself as a prominent marketplace for freelance talent. The platform operates across nine countries and regions, including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Spain, Switzerland, the UAE, and the UK. In March 2022, Malt expanded its offerings by acquiring Comatch, which led to the creation of Malt Strategy, a dedicated category for independent management consultants and interim executives.
This substantial capital injection will support Malt's strategic growth initiatives and its ongoing commitment to innovation. The company plans to use the funds to further expand its operational footprint into new markets, enhance its platform's technological capabilities, and continue developing its service offerings to meet the evolving demands of the global freelance economy. With more than 700 employees from 44 different nationalities, Malt has evolved into a successful scaleup.
The funding underscores investor confidence in Malt's business model and its pivotal role in shaping the future of work. Looking ahead, Malt aims to solidify its position as a leading global marketplace, empowering an even greater number of professionals and businesses to connect, collaborate, and thrive in the increasingly flexible work landscape.
