KRAFTBLOCK, a developer of advanced energy storage systems, has secured $22.0 million in its latest funding round. This investment will support the company's mission to decarbonize heavy industries by providing innovative solutions for thermal energy storage. KRAFTBLOCK's technology is designed to help sectors such as steel, glass, ceramics, food, chemicals, and paper significantly reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and integrate renewable energy sources into their heating processes.
The company's core offering is a modular and easily scalable energy storage system. This system utilizes a newly developed storage material composed of approximately 85% upcycled materials, underscoring its commitment to sustainability. KRAFTBLOCK's technology is capable of storing up to 1.2 MWh of thermal energy at temperatures reaching up to 1,300 °C. By capturing and utilizing formerly lost or wasted heat, the system minimizes fossil fuel consumption, prevents carbon dioxide emissions, and enhances the economic value of previously unutilized energy. Its modular design also allows for potential use as a mobile storage unit, enabling heat to be charged in one location and transported for use elsewhere.
The $22.0 million in capital is intended to accelerate KRAFTBLOCK's growth initiatives. The company plans to use the funds to scale its operations, expand its market presence, and further develop its energy storage solutions.
