Kimia, a company specializing in materials for the conservation and safeguarding of historical and modern building heritage, has secured $1.5 million in its latest funding round. Established in 1979, the Italian firm has built a reputation for developing high-quality solutions crucial for structural consolidation and restoration projects. This investment marks a significant step in the company's ongoing mission to protect architectural assets.
The company's expertise stems from its origins in Umbria and central Italy, an area frequently impacted by seismic phenomena. This regional challenge spurred Kimia to develop specialized materials and technologies to address structural vulnerabilities. Kimia was the first Italian company to introduce composite materials for structural consolidation in the 1980s and now offers a comprehensive range of CVT and ETA certified reinforcement systems in Italy.
Kimia's extensive product portfolio includes lime and pure lime mortars, cement mortars, resins for structural and non-structural interventions, composite systems, waterproofing solutions, and chemical treatments for stone surfaces. Its materials have been instrumental in preserving iconic structures globally, such as the Trevi Fountain, the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, and the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi.
The newly raised capital of $1.5 million will be strategically deployed to support Kimia's growth initiatives. The company plans to further enhance its research and development efforts, expand its product offerings, and strengthen its market presence both domestically and internationally. This funding round underscores investor confidence in Kimia's proven track record and its vital role in the preservation sector.
This investment positions Kimia to continue its legacy of innovation and expand its impact on safeguarding architectural heritage for future generations.
