Infinity Power, the largest African pure-play renewable energy provider, has raised $40,000,000 in a recent funding round. This substantial investment underscores the company's progress and the growing confidence in its strategic vision for the African renewable energy sector. The joint venture between Egypt’s Infinity and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) focuses on developing and operating power generation projects across the continent. This capital infusion marks a significant milestone in Infinity Power's mission to address critical energy supply and power insecurity challenges.
The company targets diverse renewable energy sources, including solar and wind, alongside other emerging technologies such as green hydrogen production and water desalination. Infinity Power also develops essential complementary technologies, including battery storage and transmission grids, to ensure robust and reliable energy delivery. This comprehensive approach positions Infinity Power as a key player in transforming Africa's energy landscape, building upon the strong track records of its parent companies in developing and operating renewable energy assets.
Infinity Power plans to deploy the secured funds to accelerate its growth initiatives, including the development of new renewable energy projects and the expansion of its existing operational portfolio. The company currently manages a substantial portfolio across Egypt, South Africa, and Senegal, which encompasses 1.3 GW of solar power and onshore wind farms. These projects collectively contribute to a reduction of approximately 3.5 million tons of CO2 emissions per year, highlighting the company's tangible environmental impact.
With this significant investment, Infinity Power is well-positioned to advance towards its ambitious target of having 10 GW of operational renewable energy projects by 2030. The company remains committed to lighting up Africa and supporting the sustainable development of renewable energy across the continent, fostering economic, educational, and environmental benefits in local communities.
