Portuguese media conglomerate Impresa has successfully raised $19,941,567 in its latest funding round from investors. This capital infusion marks a significant development for the group, known for its extensive portfolio spanning television and print media across Portugal and internationally. The funding is specifically aimed at bolstering the company's strategic growth initiatives and enhancing its operational capabilities.
Impresa operates a comprehensive media ecosystem, founded with the newspaper Expresso and significantly expanded with the television channel SIC. Today, the group produces eight distinct television channels, including SIC, SIC Internacional, and SIC NotĂcias. Its channels collectively engaged over 3.6 million daily viewers in Portugal in 2024. Expresso, the nation's largest newspaper, has been the most sold publication in Portugal since 2017, averaging over 83,000 copies last year.
The company also maintains a substantial international presence, broadcasting six channels beyond Portuguese borders. SIC Internacional reaches 10 million viewers globally in 11 countries, via 40 operators. Impresa further extends its reach through its streaming platform, Opto, which offers live SIC content and SIC NotĂcias internationally, alongside other digital channels available worldwide.
The newly secured capital is expected to be deployed towards strengthening Impresa's market leadership.
