ICMTA, created by teachers for teachers in 2013, is proud to announce a recent funding milestone that will further empower our mission of nurturing movement education across the world. As a not-for-profit organization registered in Belgium and led by our dynamic network of more than 250 members, we operate with a unique model of governance—sociocracy—that values collective intelligence and shared responsibility over traditional hierarchical structures. In this funding announcement, while the specific amount raised has not been publicly disclosed, the infusion of these much-needed resources marks a significant step forward in bolstering our community programs and outreach efforts.
The funds are earmarked to enhance our training initiatives, which benefit practitioners of various movement arts such as 5Rhythms®, Open Floor, Soul Motion, Middle Earth Medicine, Movement Medicine, freedomDANCE, Azul Conscious Movement, SomaSource, and BISO – Body in Soul. These programs not only enrich the professional journey of our members but also contribute to spreading holistic approaches to teaching and healing through movement. With this support, we will expand our training workshops, invest in digital learning tools, and host collaborative events designed to connect educators from around the globe. This strategic investment reaffirms the trust our community places in our innovative governance model and in our vision of transforming traditional teaching power structures into networks of shared wisdom and empowerment.
By channeling these resources back into our core operations and community-building efforts, ICMTA is poised to drive forward impactful projects that cater to the growing need for inclusive, expert-led movement education—a true testament to our commitment to artists, teachers, and the broader movement community worldwide.
