HyImpulse, the German aerospace company, has secured $45,000,000 in investment capital from a round of funding. This significant financial backing comes as the company continues to advance its hybrid propulsion technology for affordable and sustainable space access. HyImpulse recently marked a major milestone in 2024 with the successful maiden flight of its SR75 suborbital rocket, demonstrating the effectiveness of its innovative propulsion system.
Headquartered in southern Germany, HyImpulse began as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in 2018. The company specializes in developing rockets powered by hybrid propulsion, aiming to revolutionize access to space. Its product portfolio includes the SR75 single-stage suborbital rocket, designed for delivering payloads up to 300 kg into microgravity. Additionally, HyImpulse is developing the SL1, an orbital small satellite launcher with a launch planned for 2027, and an orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) for in-space mobility and last-mile delivery.
The newly raised capital is expected to accelerate HyImpulse's development roadmap and expand its operational capabilities. This investment underscores investor confidence in the company's patented hybrid propulsion technology and its strategic vision for the commercial space market. The funds will support ongoing research and development, scale up production, and further advance the SL1 orbital launcher program as the company moves towards its 2027 launch target.
With safety, sustainability, and affordability central to its mission, HyImpulse aims to establish a new era in space access. This funding round positions the company to further its objective of making space more accessible and cost-effective, leveraging over 15 years of propulsion R&D and a track record of successful tests.
