Cornwall Council is delighted to announce a funding milestone with a successful raise of £1,600,000, marking an exciting step forward in our commitment to delivering exceptional services across our region. As the UK's first devolution deal for a rural county, our unique Council proudly serves more than half a million local residents and welcomes over five million visitors each year. This funding will directly support our ongoing mission to enhance public services and infrastructure, ensuring that our community enjoys state-of-the-art care, education, and recreational amenities while preserving the natural beauty and rich culture of Cornwall.
This significant injection of funds will be strategically allocated to address key priorities such as modernizing our service delivery in areas including elderly care, children’s safeguarding, libraries, and road maintenance. In addition, we plan to invest in innovative environmental initiatives like recycling, countryside management, and sustainable tourism support, further solidifying Cornwall's reputation as a great place to live and work. Our dedicated teams, spanning various Council-owned companies such as CORMAC, Cornwall Housing, Tempus Leisure, Newquay Airport, and Cornwall Development Company, along with close collaborations with local health organisations, educational institutions, and community networks, are all set to benefit from this investment.
The £1,600,000 raise not only bolsters our financial capacity to execute vital projects, but also reaffirms our commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous Cornwall. With its beautiful beaches, scenic countryside, and superb community spirit, Cornwall is a significant asset to the UK, and we are proud to continue driving forward improvements that benefit all who call this remarkable region home.
