Eni, the integrated energy giant founded in 1953, has successfully raised an impressive $500 million in its latest funding round, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the energy sector. With a global workforce of approximately 31,376 employees operating across 69 countries—including key markets in Algeria, Angola, Mozambique, Mexico, Indonesia, and Italy—Eni is strategically positioning itself for a greener future. The funds raised will be critical in advancing Eni's recent initiatives under its new strategy launched in 2021, which aims to produce a variety of fully decarbonized energy solutions. Notably, this strategy includes the merger of its renewable and retail businesses into Plenitude, enhancing its capacity to develop bio-refineries and biomethane production facilities, as well as to market low-carbon energy carriers and mobility services at its service stations.
By reinforcing its commitment to environmental and financial sustainability, Eni is not only addressing the pressing challenge of climate change but also contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This funding will empower Eni to continue promoting equitable and sustainable access to energy resources, facilitating a just transition towards a low-carbon future. As part of its mission, Eni seeks to provide innovative solutions that meet the evolving energy needs of communities while supporting economic growth and environmental stewardship. With this funding boost, Eni is well-equipped to lead the charge in creating a sustainable energy landscape for generations to come.
