Empowering Futures: Ubuntu Youth Organization (UYO) Secures $5000 Grant for Vocational Training Programs

Ubuntu Youth Organization (UYO) is thrilled to announce that it has successfully raised $5,000 to further its mission of empowering vulnerable and marginalized youth and single mothers, both refugees and host communities, in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded by a dedicated group of refugees and Kenyans, UYO stands at the intersection of compassion and action, embodying the spirit of Ubuntu—“I am because we (you) are.” This funding will directly support our Apprenticeship and Livelihood Programs, which are designed to provide essential vocational training in skills such as tailoring, basket weaving (Vikapu), and barbering (shaving). By equipping participants aged 15 to 35 with practical skills, we aim to foster self-reliance and economic independence, thereby helping them break the cycle of poverty and insecurity. The generous contributions will enable us to expand our training facilities, enhance our curriculum, and provide necessary materials and mentorship, empowering even more individuals to realize their potential. The UYO team believes in the unyielding strength of united communities and the power of displaced people to contribute meaningfully to society.
