Decameal, an innovative company focused on sustainable protein production, has successfully secured $700,000 in investment capital from private investors. This funding round marks a crucial step for the company as it moves to scale its unique approach to developing protein supplements.
Decameal addresses a pressing environmental issue by utilizing the by-catch of common shore crabs, an identified invasive species, to create high-quality protein supplements. These products offer protein content ranging from 40% to 70% and boast a balanced composition of valuable amino acids, making them an ideal component for a wide array of feeds across the entire sector. The company was founded by biologists Happylan and Leander, whose project originated from a "Bio-entrepreneurship" course in 2020 and has been diligently developed since their graduation in 2021.
This latest investment signifies a strong vote of confidence in Decameal's innovative bioprocess and its potential to contribute to sustainable aquaculture and animal feed industries. The newly secured capital is strategically earmarked to accelerate production development, including the refinement of manufacturing methods and scaling up operations. Additionally, funds will be allocated towards expanding market reach and strengthening the commercialization efforts for Decameal's sustainable protein offerings. The company has previously received soft funding from organizations such as Innovationsfonden, Fonden for entreprenørskab, and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark.
With this significant financial backing, Decameal is poised for substantial growth and aims to become a key player in the sustainable protein market. The company plans to leverage this investment to further enhance its product lines and expand its capacity, contributing to more resource-efficient and environmentally responsible practices within the global feed industry.
