Dawn Aerospace Raises $12.6M Series A Funding

Dawn Aerospace has secured $12.6 million in a recent funding round. The company, with operations in the Netherlands, New Zealand, France, and the United States, is focused on developing scalable and sustainable solutions for space access and in-space mobility. This capital infusion marks a significant step in advancing its mission to enable the next generation of space users.

Dawn Aerospace is known for its suborbital spaceplanes, which are designed to operate like conventional aircraft, taking off and landing horizontally at airports. Its Aurora spaceplane demonstrator has completed over 60 test flights, including breaking the sound barrier at Mach 1.12 and setting a record for the fastest climb to 20 kilometers in 2024. The Aurora aims to be the first vehicle capable of accessing space multiple times per day.

Beyond spaceplanes, Dawn Aerospace is a leading supplier of green propulsion systems for various satellite classes, including NanoSat, MicroSat, ESPA, and ESPA Grande. These systems utilize a unique, green-propellant combination of nitrous oxide and propylene, often outperforming traditional hydrazine systems. With over 150 thrusters in space across 35 satellites, Dawn's propulsion technology has flown on launchers such as Electron, Vega, Falcon 9, and Soyuz. The company is also actively developing in-space refueling capabilities through its LOOP program.

This funding round is crucial for Dawn Aerospace as it continues to mature its technologies and expand its operational capabilities. The capital will be directed towards accelerating the development and commercialization of both its spaceplane and in-space propulsion systems. It will also support the expansion of its global footprint and team to meet growing demand in the space sector.
