Parks Victoria is thrilled to announce a significant funding achievement, having successfully raised $338 million to further enhance its vital mission of managing and protecting Victoria's vast and diverse natural landscapes. As a statutory authority of the Victorian Government, Parks Victoria is dedicated to overseeing more than 4 million hectares of land, which includes approximately 3,000 parks and reserves. This new funding will be instrumental in fostering partnerships with Traditional Owners in a culturally sensitive manner while safeguarding ecological integrity. With 18 percent of Victoria's landmass, home to around 1,000 native animal species and 4,300 native plants, Parks Victoria emphasizes the essential connection between community health and environmental wellness through its Healthy Parks Healthy People initiative. The funds will be allocated toward essential programs that boost accessibility to natural spaces, enriching visitor experiences, and promoting environmental education. In line with our Corporate Plan, the finance will support enhanced infrastructure, conservation programs, and community engagement projects that benefit both the environment and public health. This strategic investment will not only foster a deeper appreciation for Victoria's natural beauty but will also ensure that parks remain resilient and flourishing for future generations. As we continue to work collaboratively with government and non-government organizations, as well as local communities and volunteers, we remain committed to our vision of delivering enjoyable, sustainable, and accessible outdoor experiences. Parks Victoria looks forward to the possibilities this funding will unlock, further strengthening our stewardship of Victoria鈥檚 rich natural heritage.
