Ballyhoura Development CLG, a community-led Local Development Company, has announced it has secured $29,000 in new funding from investors. Established in 1989, the organization is dedicated to supporting individual, community, and business development across the Ballyhoura Area. This investment marks a significant step in bolstering its capacity to deliver vital services and programmes.
Operating as a company limited by guarantee with charity status, Ballyhoura Development CLG functions as a partnership involving community and voluntary sectors, social partners, and public and elected representatives. Its operational scope covers the Ballyhoura Area, a dispersed rural region with a population of 78,191 spread across 54 local communities. Historically, this area has faced challenges due to a high dependence on agriculture and an underdevelopment of industrial, commercial, and professional services sectors.
The company plays a crucial role in managing and implementing various EU and National programmes, including The Rural Development Programme (LEADER), The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), and the Rural Social Scheme (RSS), among others. It also actively brokers mainstream funding with the overarching goal of revitalizing the rural landscape. The newly secured capital will be strategically deployed to enhance Ballyhoura Development CLG's operational capabilities and expand its range of initiatives aimed at fostering socio-economic growth and community resilience within its service area.
This funding round underscores investor confidence in Ballyhoura Development CLG's mission and its proven track record in driving positive change. Looking forward, the organization is poised to continue its efforts in empowering local communities and businesses, contributing to the sustainable development and prosperity of the Ballyhoura Area.
