iRhythm Technologies, Inc. has acquired VitalConnect for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings together iRhythm’s established ambulatory cardiac monitoring franchise with VitalConnect’s wearable biosensor platform, which is used for both cardiac and broader patient monitoring in hospital and home settings.

VitalConnect is known for its Vista Solution platform and VitalPatch biosensor, devices that capture continuous physiological data across inpatient and outpatient environments. The company’s engineering depth spans biomedical design, data analytics, chip development, and mobile and cloud software, enabling real-time decision support for clinicians. Its technology is applied in post-discharge care, hospital monitoring, cardiac diagnostics, and pharmaceutical research programs.

For iRhythm, the acquisition expands its technology stack beyond its core Zio patch service into a wider range of monitoring applications. VitalConnect’s capabilities in hospital-based and remote patient monitoring complement iRhythm’s existing strengths in long-term cardiac rhythm analysis. The combined portfolio is expected to allow iRhythm to address a broader continuum of care, from acute inpatient surveillance to chronic outpatient management, while leveraging VitalConnect’s expertise in hardware and software integration.

The transaction also gives iRhythm access to VitalConnect’s pharmaceutical solutions business, which supports drug development through wearable-based data collection. This adds a new revenue channel and deepens iRhythm’s presence in clinical trials and research partnerships. No financial terms were disclosed, and the companies have not detailed integration timelines or leadership changes.

The combined entity will operate with a wider product line spanning diagnostic patches, real-time monitoring, and research-grade biosensors. The success of the acquisition will depend on how effectively iRhythm integrates VitalConnect’s hospital-focused offerings into its existing distribution and service model, and whether it can maintain momentum in both commercial and clinical research markets.
