Sika has acquired USK Kimya A.S., a leading Turkish manufacturer of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Polyanionic Cellulose (PAC), for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition, completed in March 2021, marks a significant expansion for Sika in the specialty chemicals sector.
Established in 2001, USK Kimya A.S. operates two production plants in Turkey and has grown to become a key player in global markets, serving over 55 countries. The company's CMC and PAC products are essential components across a wide variety of industrial applications, including oil and gas drilling, detergents, paper, textiles, ceramics, water-based adhesives and coatings, and paints. USK Kimya A.S. is known for its consistent product quality, continuous product development, and adherence to environmental and safety standards, holding ISO 9001:2008 certification. Its well-known brand names include filtraPAC®, RHEOLON®, USK®, VISCOLOSE®, and RHEOFLO®.
This acquisition is strategically important for Sika, allowing it to integrate USK Kimya A.S.'s specialized product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities. The addition of CMC and PAC products will enhance Sika's offerings in various industrial segments, particularly in areas where these cellulose derivatives are critical for performance and formulation. Sika is expected to leverage USK Kimya A.S.'s established global sales network and technical expertise to expand its market presence and provide more comprehensive solutions to its customers worldwide. The move is anticipated to create synergies through optimized supply chains and shared technological advancements.
The integration of USK Kimya A.S. into Sika is expected to strengthen Sika's position in the specialty chemicals market, particularly in high-growth industrial applications. The combined entity will benefit from enhanced production capacities and a broader product range, enabling it to better meet dynamic market demands and drive sustainable growth in the coming years.
