Mapfre has acquired TUIO, a fee management solution for schools, daycares and other educational-oriented organizations, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction brings the Spanish insurer’s technology portfolio into closer alignment with the administrative needs of the education sector, though financial terms were not disclosed.
TUIO provides a platform that digitizes fee collection, invoicing and payment tracking for educational institutions. Mapfre, a global insurance and reinsurance group, plans to integrate TUIO’s capabilities into its existing digital services for families and small organizations. The acquisition is part of Mapfre’s broader effort to expand beyond traditional insurance products into adjacent operational tools that support its customer base.
The strategic rationale centers on cross-selling opportunities. Mapfre already serves many households with children, and TUIO’s software offers a direct channel to those families through their schools. By owning the fee management layer, Mapfre can embed its insurance offerings-such as accident coverage or payment protection plans-into the same workflow where parents already make regular transactions. For TUIO, the deal provides access to Mapfre’s distribution network and financial resources, which could accelerate product development and market reach.
The combined entity will likely focus on deepening TUIO’s presence in existing markets while exploring integration with Mapfre’s payment and claims infrastructure. No changes to TUIO’s day-to-day operations have been announced, and the company is expected to continue serving its current clients under its existing brand. The acquisition is expected to close following customary regulatory approvals, after which Mapfre will begin assessing how to layer its services onto TUIO’s platform without disrupting school operations.
